How Does 3+1 Mosquito Management Programme Work?
1. Inspection for Source Reduction
ORIGIN’s pest management professional will conduct a comprehensive inspection to identify mosquito hot spots and breeding sites around your property. They will suggest strategies to curb the conditions that encourage mosquito infestation and highlight the areas that require expert treatment.
2. Trapping with ORItrap
ORIGIN’s novel ORItrap is manufactured from durable recycled propylene and consists of several components that aid in eliminating mosquitoes.
How does the ORItrap work?
1. Odour attractant: ORItrap contains water that lures adult female mosquitoes to lay eggs in the trap.
2. Biological agent: The water contains a slow-acting larvicide and a fungus that weakens the female mosquito. It helps prevent virus development and can transmit any disease.
3.Growth regulator: The bioactive agent in the trap prevents larvae from developing into adults. Moreover, they continue contaminating all the spots where these mosquitoes settle to lay eggs.
4. Mosquito killing fungus: It makes the mosquito less active and reduces its ability to bite humans. The fungus also inhibits the development of viruses in the mosquito gut so it cannot transmit disease.
TRAPS
The female mosquitoes get lured in odour-infused water and then carry insecticide on their legs and abdomen, which spreads the active ingredients to other inaccessible breeding sites. The contamination disrupts larvae and stops their development into adults. The adult mosquito perishes in a couple of days.
3. Dual Misting
The process involves a spray of a mixture of BTi (bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) and an adulticide – Bifenthrin. The purpose of this fine mist solution is to kill both larvae and adult mosquitoes. Compared to traditional thermal fogging, dual misting is safe and environmentally friendly.
+1. Monitoring software
The software (Cre8trak) enables our team of technicians to document the location of traps to monitor the larvae population around the potential breeding sites. The larval counts are recorded every 10 days which helps in assessing the effectiveness of treatment at your property instantly.
